K2togL
K2togR

1×1 ribbing: K1, P1. Repeat to the end of the round.

Cuff

You can work with double pointed needles or with the circular needles using the magic loop method.

Cast on 70 stitches. Join for working in the round and place the BOR marker.

Work 2 cm [¾”] in 1×1 ribbing (approx. 10 rounds).

Leg

Next round: SM, * K1, work first 16 stitches of the Stitch no.1, then work 17 stitches of the Stitch no.1, K1 *, repeat from * to * 1 more time.

Continue working as established until the sock measures 13 cm [5″] from the cast-on edge.

Next round: work 35 stitches in pattern, K35.

Now, you will shape the heel. Turn the work to start from the WS row.

Heel

You will use German short rows.

Make a double stitch (MDS):

  • RS: slip the first stitch knitwise to the right needle. Pull the yarn up and bring it to the front of the work, making a double stitch;
  • WS: slip the first stitch purlwise to the right needle. Pull the yarn up and bring it to the back of the work, making a double stitch.

Row 1 (WS): MDS, P34, turn the work.

Row 2 (RS): MDS, K to the double stitch, turn the work.

Row 3 (WS): MDS, P to the double stitch, turn the work.

Repeat rows 2-3 9 more times (with the RS facing, you should have 11 double stitches on the left needle and 10 double stitches on the right needle).

Next row (RS): MDS, K13, K 11 double stitches.

Next round: SM, work 35 stitches in pattern, K 11 double stitches, K to the end of the round.

Next round: SM, work 35 stitches in pattern, K25, turn the work.

Now you will work back and forth again:

Row 1 (WS): MDS, P14, turn the work.

Row 2 (RS): MDS, K to the double stitch, K the double stitch, K1, turn the work.

Row 3 (WS): MDS, P to the double stitch, P the double stitch, P1, turn the work.

Repeat rows 2-3 9 more times.

Next row (RS): MDS, K to the double stitch, K the double stitch.

Foot

Round 1: SM, work 35 stitches in pattern, K the double stitch, K to the end of the round.

Round 2: work 35 stitches in pattern, K35.

Continue working as established until the sock measures 4 cm [1½”] shorter than the length of your foot, measuring from the back of the heel.

Toe

Round 1: SM, K35, place marker, K35.

Round 2 (decrease): * SM, K1, K2togL, K until you have 3 stitches before the marker, K2togR, K1 *, repeat from * to * 1 more time.

Round 3: K to the end of the round.

Repeat rounds 2-3 5 more times (46 stitches on the needles).

Then, repeat round 2 until you have 26 stitches left.

Sew the toe with the Kitchener stitch.
